Engage West Somerset is a charity which supports the development of a vibrant, effective and influential voluntary and community sector locally. We aim to provide services, support and advice to the voluntary sector and to people who are in need within West Somerset.
Services to the voluntary sector include promoting and developing the effectiveness of voluntary action by providing information, advice and training to voluntary and community organisations to ensure they have the resources to develop and grow.
Services we provide to people in need include a Furniture Re-Use Project.
Engage West Somerset:
- runs the Volunteer Centre for West Somerset
- is an umbrella organisation approved to process applications for Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosures.
- has a Development Worker to can support West Somerset community groups and charities and help them achieve their goals and deliver better services to the local community; particularly those who are disadvantaged.

coordinates the West Somerset Voluntary Sector Forum, bringing representatives of the voluntary sector together for training, sharing information and to ensure that the voluntary sector has a wider voice on local partnerships.

West Somerset Strategic Partnership
West Somerset Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) was founded in 1985 to promote any charitable purpose for the benefit of the community in the area of West Somerset.
Engage West Somerset became a company limited by guarantee in 2007 and took on the work of West Somerset CVS.
Engage is the local West Somerset Support and Development Organisation and has a membership base of organisations and individuals. West Somerset Voluntary Sector Forum has a membership of over 100 registered charities as at December 2010.
